This historic marker is in the south-west corner of the
property.
The other side of the historic marker.
This is a picture of the Memorial Garden which is near
completion. You can see the church in the background.
This is another picture of the Memorial Garden looking
north-east. This is where the memorial bricks are currently being placed.
Bricks can be purchased for $50 with 3 lines of 16 characters and/or spaces per line (see
gifts link).
These are memorial/engraved paving bricks currently in the Garden entryway pictured above.
This is the church from the south side as it appears now. The temporary new roof is in place and the building is totally squared and
standing proud.
The interior of the church is cross-braced, preparing it for its
temporary move while the basement/foundation is dug and poured.
The church from the SW corner.
The church from the SE corner. Weather wrap protects areas where the horizontal
boards had to be removed while sill beams were replaced and to support the cross bracing.
The
Old Rugged Cross Memorial Garden from the SE. The picnic shelter is on the left and
the church is in the background, behind the cross on the hill. Picnic shelter posts were set by Methodists, the roof was added by
Catholics and the shingles were applied by Pentecostals. God's people working
together.
New sign installed regarding the restoration project.

Until October, 2007, the sanctuary has had a dirt floor since 1915 when the
church was sold to a local farmer. It now has a concrete crawl-space floor with
concrete foundation all around except the area under the front door. That part
of the foundation will be completed in the spring of 2008 if funds are
available. Plans also call for constructing a wooden sub-floor for the
sanctuary as soon as funds become available. The next phase will then be a new
roof, repairing soffit and fascia and a ceiling in the sanctuary.
